Chipwrecked is an 8-bit music festival held on a little island in Denmark called Bornholm. It stemmed from the desire to have a DIY show in which any performer or musician who makes chiptune, music made with old video game consoles, can apply and get a chance to play. I was tasked to create the identity for the 2018 edition of the show, and to underline the fun and explosive nature of it.
As this music is of great importance to me, I wanted to show the creative and community-building aspect of it by using vibrant colors appearing to come from a small, unsuspecting looking island. The typography utilizes the spray-painted stencils created by the organizers in the first edition as well as their handwriting, highlighting the grittiness of the event and this music community. While it is operating on nothing but crowd-funding, a small budget and sheer enthusiasm of the attendees, it packs a punch, and you'll be glad to have stumbled upon it like the pirate in the poster.
